Below are the workshops Benjamin McAfee offers:
Empowering Individuals Within the Healthcare System (EIHS)
Lack of insurance can be a barrier to seeking counseling. Results from a study from Healthy Minds indicated that both the cost of counseling and lack of insurance was a perceived barrier for college students (Vidourek, R et. al, 2014). Additionally, Lack of self-efficacy in navigating insurance deterred students from seeking treatment (Megivern, & Mowbray, 2003).
The purpose of EIHS is to provide tools and empower individuals to increase health insurance literacy by understanding terminology, navigating insurance by searching for doctors and drug coverage, learning how to calculate how much individuals will pay for healthcare services by providing them with different scenarios, and gauging increase in insurance knowledge by quantifying their progression through quizzes
Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)
WRAP is an evidence-based prevention and wellness program recognized Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAHMSA) to get individuals to get well and stay well. The objectives of WRAP for participants are the following:
- Helps you stay as well as possible, and this can be defined per individual and how they perceive their wellness.
- Helps you keep track of difficult feelings and behaviors, and develop action plans to help stay in recovery.
- Tell others what to do for you when you feel so badly you can’ t make decisions, take care of yourself and keep yourself safe.
Academic Group Coaching Series
These are a series of workshops that allow students to experience multiple activities to get them thinking about their core motivations, habits, and their future successes. There are a series of three separate workshops that can be administered.Helps students gain clarity on what they really want, and design action steps, habits, and mindsets to achieve it.
- Helps students examine the efficacy of their habits and what drives their core motivation. These concepts work well together because they emphasize that core motivation looks at personality as a bundle of habits and beliefs that they can change.
- Helps students examine negative narratives such as messages and excuses that hold us back. Concurrently, in the same workshop, students will examine their future self which will provide students predefined perspective, 5 to 10 years in the future.
